I adore Squidoo. My biggest concern is one of organization. I haven't figured out how to keep things organized so that I can get things done and lenses made. I tried Google Notes. It works to some degree, but I am still disorganized. Any tips or suggestions?
Okay, now on to your question. I'll focus more on the Squidoo side of it. Not really because I'm trying to market Squidoo, but because in my personal life, I'm highly disorganized. =P.
For Squidoo, I think the new dashboard helps with this. It helps pinpoint the lenses that need work, which ones should be updated, etc. Also, one thing I'd suggest is to not worry too much about getting the lens great. Start by creating a basic framework, and edit or add on as you go along.
I make a new lens when I can share an opinion without introducing to much vitriol.
I have a basic framework for completed lenses.
* If it gets more hits than its overall lens rank I'll look and maybe work on it almost daily, right now there is just one.
* If it is less than 2000 total lens rank, I'll check it every couple of days, I always seem to find something I can improve.
* less than 5000, every few days
* less than 10000 once a week or so
* most others bi-monthly, real dogs monthly
This is not compulsive, I wouldn't sweat missing a week or two. Once I was unable to address Squidoo seriously for several months. The lenses were still there, still had errors or ideas that could improve them once I came back.
What it does best is keep me from wasting time constantly piddling with lenses. This is a fun hobby for me, but I don't have time to get addicted.
If a low ranked lens suddenly gets many hits or comments, I'll seek to improve it.
